Favorite Fall Fashion Must-Haves

As I’ve been experimenting with my first clothing capsule, I’ve given more thought to what my favorite pieces are in terms of both clothing and accessories. While I had to narrow down my choices when I created the capsule wardrobe, I didn’t limit myself on shoes or accessories. I have, however, been taking note of of the items that I enjoy wearing the most and wear most frequently. In the future, I’d like to use these notes to help include shoes and accessories in my next clothing capsule.

What’s more, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to make better, wiser shopping choices when it comes to purchasing accessories. I’d like to purchase less in quantity, but more in quality. I’m hopeful that these decisions will be made easier as I take note of what I truly enjoy wearing the most and need to wear the most often.

With that said, I wanted to share with you the fall fashion pieces that I’ve been wearing over and over this year, and the one thing that is one my shopping list.

The bag to end all bags.
The bag to end all bags.

This. Bag. Let me tell you a little bit about my fall 2014 obsession-the canvas tote. This tote was given to me by my grandma and it has become my go-to bag this year. I know, crazy, right? I’ve always loved purses, so if you would have told me last year that my favorite “purse” wasn’t even a purse, but a tote, I would have given you my classic eye roll with a dismissive “whatever.” But it’s true! This bag is so easy for a busy, on the go, SAHM. I throw whatever I need in it and while it holds more than seems possible, I can also always find what I’m looking for. It’s durable, washable, and I don’t feel bad stuffing it in the bottom of my stroller. #winning

The purse that says less SAHM and more style icon.

Lest you think I’ve totally lost all fashion sense, let me present you with my favorite purse for fall 2014. I love the color, the gold chain handle that can be worn at several lengths, and the soft vegan leather. On top of all that, it just plain looks good with everything!

The scarf I can't stop wearing.

I am in love with this lovely infinityΒ scarf that my wonderful friend gave me for my birthday (Thanks Diane!). The color is perfect for fall, it goes well with dresses as well as a fall vest, and keeps me both warm and fashionable. I wear it on a weekly basis.

My favorite pair of sunnies.
My favorite pair of sunnies.

No look is complete without a good pair of sunnies. These are just the best. My favorite aviators bit the dust after I sat on them one too many times. It was sad to say goodbye, but these new ones are easing the pain by being equally as cute and trendy.

These boots (and ballet flats) were made for walkin.

I do a lot of walking. The boys and I take a daily walk, and beyond that, I spend the rest of my time chasing after them no matter where we are at, be it our house, the store, etc. But, I despise tennis shoes. I hate athletic wear. And while I love my Toms, they aren’t always dressy/girlie enough for me. Thus far, I’ve been wearing the two pairs pictured above with almost everything. They look adorable paired with tights when I’m wearing skirts and dresses, and work equally well with my skinny jeans.

And these hats, to complete any fall look.

The awesomeness of these hats is pretty self explanatory.

Two of my favorite fall pieces - the infinity scarf and my tan booties - paired with one of my favorite dresses from my capsule wardrobe.

So what is on my shopping list? I still need a fall jacket to complete my clothing capsule. The one I’ve worn and loved for years has officially handed in it’s resignation (via a zipper tragedy), which leaves me no choice but to replace it. Any suggestions on where I should start looking?

  1. Love your fall fashion items! Especially the infinity scarf – hee hee! I have debated many times going back to the store to buy on for myself because I am obsessed with scarves, especially for fall & winter months. Your grandmother’s need to have a chat with my grandparents to get them on board with fashion – so impressed with the bags they gave you. I’m out of suggestions for a place to get a fall jacket – although the Poppy store in Wooster has some very cool clothing items. If you are ever up to a shopping trip out of town give me a jingle! πŸ™‚

    1. Diane, I think you should definitely go get yourself one of those scarves! It would look so cute on you. I’ll do some looking online for a fall scarf and then maybe we can plan a fall shopping trip together :-).
