Goodbye to All That

Today, winter arrived. The sky was gray, the wind was bitter, and north eastern Ohio received it’s first dusting of snow. *sigh*

I’m actually not opposed to winter. I enjoy the festive feel that my home naturally takes on as the colder temperatures outside make everything feel warm and cozy on the inside. I enjoy  celebrating holidays with family and friends, and to the comfort that accompanies the rituals and traditions of the season. And this year, I’m excited to create a new capsule wardrobe for winter 2014…but more on that another day.

I am, however, sad to see fall go. I’m sad to say goodbye to brightly covered leaves, to warm days and cold nights, to weather that is just right for long walks. Today, I would like to bid fall a proper farewell with a photo album of some of my favorite, recent fall activity.

I said, "Look, you have a crown! That means you are a king!" Theo heard, "I have a crown which means I get to tell you what to do..."

This fall, we started walking up to our local Subway once a week for lunch. I love our little lunch dates together.

Sometimes, it’s the simple things that mean the most – like sharing a meal together with my boys.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
