DIY Message Board

This weekend, my husband and I and our good friends, Julie and Jimmy, got together to celebrate my cousin Jarod’s birthday. There are few things that I love more than getting together with people that I love, to eat, talk and laugh the night away. This past Saturday was no exception.

As you can see in this photo, my head blocked out most of Jarod’s name. For the remainder of the evening we affectionately called him “Jaro.”

Before I left for our night out, though, I had quite a few instructions to leave for our babysitter. I like to keep my notes in a visible spot where they are the least likely to be forgotten or ignored. Fortunately, I had my DIY message board for just the occasion.IMG_1765

This message board has come in handy so many times since I’ve made it, so I thought I’d share this quick idea with you today. This project couldn’t be easier or more inexpensive. I bought a 8 1/2 X 11″ picture frame at the Dollar Tree for $1, and a 8 1/2 X 11″ piece of scrapbook paper at the craft store for 10 cents. Like I said, cheap!

You can swap out your paper as often as you like, although I haven’t changed mine since I made it about a year ago.To write on it, all you need is a dry erase maker with an eraser!

Not only is this message board great for leaving notes for your babysitter, spouse or your kids, I also like to use it to create “to do” lists and to write meaningful quotes or thoughts that I can come back to over the day.

I hope you enjoyed this fun little DIY project. Let me know if you give it a try! Or, I’d love to hear from you if you have a DIY message board idea of your own. Happy Monday readers!
