Sometimes I only need to stand where I am to be blessed. -Mary Oliver
So….I’ve hit a little rut. Nothing major, I’ve just hit that point in my pregnancy and life as a stay at home mom where every morning I wake up and have to give myself a little pep talk before starting my day. Something along the lines of, “you can do this, you can do this.”
Then, I walk into my kid’s room and see the utter destruction that they’ve wreaked before 8 am and I really have to up the ante on my inner, pep talk dialogue. Anyways.
So, in honor of it being Tuesday, the day after Monday, here are just a few thoughts and tips to perk you up.
It’s fall! Which means here in Northeastern Ohio it is also sweater season. Read this for an amazing tip on how to hang your sweaters without the hassle!
Have you carved your pumpkins yet? If not, here is a simple but helpful tip: instead of carving out the top around the stem, carve a hole in the bottom. This way, you can light your candle and place it on the ground and simply place the pumpkin over top and avoid the awkward lighting-the-candle-inside-a-pumpkin thing. Genius, huh?!
The other night was a beautiful fall evening – cool and crisp with a beautiful sunset. We decided to keep dinner super simple so that we could enjoy it outside. The boys roasted hotdogs around the fire pit, I tossed together a salad and brought out a few munchies like hummus, carrots, and grapes and voila! We had a lovely, alfresco fall dinner. It eventually started to rain, but that only added to the fun experience!
One day last week, we were all a little (a lot) frustrated with each other, so I packed up the stroller with snacks and a book for me and we headed to the park. It was a beautiful day and we all needed the fresh air. Sometimes all you need in order to feel better is a change of scenery (and a good snack, of course).
This list has some really cute and easy DIY ideas. I especially like the blanket ladder and the painted canvas ideas!
With the changing of the seasons seem to come all sorts of illnesses. I found this recipe for homemade flu fighting gummies. Do any of you use elderberry syrup for health? The recipe looks simple enough and requires inexpensive ingredients, so I think I might make a batch to keep on hand.
I’ll leave you with this – my current mood:
