I love fall and fall festivities! I know, I know. Everybody says that. But I don’t care. I love it!
This Local Event
Last weekend, we enjoyed a local event where downtown businesses encouraged kids to dress up in costume and visit their stores for treats. It was such a blast! Theo and Oliver got a bucket full of candy, participated in a scavenger hunt at the library, and made crafts at the local art center.
For me, one of the best parts about having kids is that you get to participate in all the things you’ve become too old to enjoy on your own. I love dressing the boys up and living vicariously through their excitement and joy. Kids are natural born fun-makers, and if you allow them to, they’ll suck you right into the good times!
For Halloween, Mike took Theo out trick or treating and I stayed back with Oliver to pass out candy. I love passing out candy to trick or treaters! I love having kiddos come to our door all dressed up in adorable costumes. I love seeing how shy they get to be around someone they don’t know, yet how eagerly they plow through your candy bowl. It’s so much fun. Oliver was pretty disappointed to be left behind, however, as you can see from the photo below.
This Candy Treat…For Momma
I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a chocolate fan. I don’t care for candy bars or brownies or anything like that. But give me a bowl full of Twizzlers and ooooh man is it on. These rainbow Twizzlers are kinda making my life right now.
This Fall Day
It has been an absolutely gorgeous week here in northeastern Ohio. The other day, I took advantage of the beautiful weather by packing us a picnic lunch and heading in a new direction. We stopped to shop at my friend’s gift barn, hit up a new park, and enjoyed lunch under the fall sky. The boys spent their time at the park throwing rocks at each other and laughing hysterically while I sat on a blanket and soaked up some sun and pretended that I didn’t know whose children they were…
These Magical Toys
My Uncle Sam (well, he is really my dad’s uncle, but we call him Uncle Sam just the same 🙂 ), sent us some amazing wooden trucks for the boys. They have been magical. The boys not only love them, but they actually really behave well when they play with the trucks together.
The other morning, I was asleep on the couch because, pregnancy man. Anyways, I became slightly aware of a body next to me. Next thing I know, I hear Theo call to his brother, “Come on Oliver! Leave mommy alone, she’s sleeping.”
Oliver padded off to the living room where he and his brother played with the trucks for the next half hour. Holy miracle. They might have been noisy but I managed to eek out 30 more minutes of much needed sleep. Amazing!
What about you? What are you loving about this time of year?
