Five Things

Happy Friday, friends!

What are your plans for the weekend? We don’t have much going on other than working on a few small projects for baby girl and continuing to soak up some quality time with the boys.

1) Speaking of quality time with your kids, have you heard of the idea of penny walks? When you go out for a walk with your kiddos, take a penny along. As you come to a new street, toss a coin – heads you go one way, tails you go another. It’s such a fun twist to add to your routine walk, and kids will love that you’ve turned your walk into a game.

2) Ever since Theo was a baby, one resource that I’ve returned to time and time again is The Baby Sleep Site. This site has a ton of wonderful, free information to help you with all the special little trials and tribulations that come along with babies and sleep. They also offer paid sleep consultation for an extra special crisis, which you bet your bottom dollar we’ve had to use (and boy was it worth it!).

I read one of their articles recently on Montessori floor beds and was really intrigued with the idea. I’m a fan of the Montessori learning approach, but I don’t know much about how that extends into the home. After reading the article, though, I think we are going to try this with Oliver. Stay tuned for more on that transition!

3) Do you budget for groceries and meal plan? I stumbled on this helpful tool that allows you to fill in your family’s age and size and it tells you how much you should be spending on groceries. It’s a helpful tool to use as you budget each week/month.

4) I’ve loved hearing from some of you that you’ve made your own blanket scarves! Here is a great blog post that my friend shared with me on some cute ways to tie your newest accessory.

5) I finally got around to signing up for Chatbooks and I couldn’t be happier! It’s a great way to ensure that all your photos from social media get printed. What’s more, they come in book form which makes everything look just a tad more special. Plus, no more photo albums!

Well, until next time. Happy Friday!

  1. I think I need to look into those chat books! 😀 I’m so bad about printing my stuff, but it seems like a good option. I have SO many photos just hiding out on my computer.

    1. I’m really happy with the paper/printing quality of the chatbooks, and the way they have it set up it’s very easy to edit what you want to keep to print or delete (I chose not to print all my food photos ;-).)

  2. Also, I have never seen that sleep site (will have to take a look). But we transitioned both our kids to beds on the floor at approx 14 months, and it is super awesome! My first only got a “real bed” a few months ago (4.5 years old), and only because my husband really wanted him to have a bunk bed. Floor beds are much more convenient, and it makes it easy to lay down with them to read (and safer for bed jumping hehe).

    1. The sleep site has been such a wonderful resource, I’m sure you’ll find it to be helpful! I’m glad to hear from someone else that they’ve tried and enjoyed the beds on the floor approach. It will make things much more convenient. Thanks for the feedback!
