Thursday Things I Love: Sea Salt Spray, More Sushi, and Woks

Bea and I continue to spend plenty of time on the couch, nursing, falling asleep in weird positions, and of course – watching Gilmore Girls. She loves it already. I can tell.

Here are a few other things I’m loving right now:

These new things:

I got this t-shirt (which I’d been wanting since the minute I saw it) for Christmas from my brother and sister-in-law. The same friend who took my maternity pics made it! If you ever find yourself in Fredricksburg, Ohio, you should check out her gift barn that she runs in her front yard. You can find her on Instagram at: saltcreektimes

I’m also loving my new, 2016 planner from Target. It’s not only cute, it was also super cheap! Like, less than $10 and free shipping! I know, I know, it’s 2016 for goodness sake, use my iphone, right? I just can’t, guys. I’m a pen and paper kind of gal.

And my hair is looooving my new sea salt spray. If I can’t swim in the ocean every day, this will have to do. And it does my “do” just fine. (See what I did there?)

This thrifted wok:

I picked up a stainless steel wok for 99 cents last week when I went to the thrift store to drop off a few donations. I restored it to its original glory with some coconut oil and then whipped up some delicious veggie lo mein!

This game night:

We bought Theo a board game when he wasn’t even a year old. He is now four and a half and finally old enough to play it. You could say we didn’t quite get how this whole baby thing worked. Live and learn.

Anywhoo.

We broke out the new, yet four year old game the other night and had a blast attempting to “not let the pidgeon drive the bus.”

This sushi:

So…when I saw sushi at Aldi of all places, in the frozen food isle, I was a bit skeptical. But then we were having sushi with friends of ours and they said to stop being so ridiculous and just buy it already because it’s actually pretty good.

And it was.

I loved it. I can’t wait for them to get more in stock so I can buy a freezer full. Sushi is the best. Sushi at home for a movie snack is even better. And speaking of movies and snacks…

This movie night (and leftover Christmas snack):

When Mike was home on break, we watched one of my favorite movies – The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. Such a great film. We drank coffee and I polished off the Christmas cut out cookies. It was a great evening.

We also watched the new Mission Impossible over break. I’m so glad we are all friends with Tom Cruise again. Sure he went a little crazy there for a bit, but gosh, it’s good to have you back Tommy. (And in case you are curious, my rating of the MI movies is thus, from best to worst: 1, 3, 4, 2. Only watch two if all other movies ever made are lost in a fire and you are absolutely dying to watch something. It’s just terrible.)

Probably one of my favorite things ever.

The end.

  1. I read this post on Thursday but didn’t have time to comment…so I’m back. 🙂 Of course I love your planner – you have such great taste! Haha! 🙂 Love your vintage BHG chinese cookbook. I have a similar one that has such great recipes (even if the food staging is a little ugly). Yes, African Queen is such a great movie. Haven’t watched that one in a long time!

    • You are so funny, and right! I never thought about it before, but the BHG food staging leaves a lot to be desired, but the recipes are delicious! Mike wants me to attempt the homemade egg rolls, but they intimidate me. Maybe someday! And I just love the African Queen, such a sweet love story!
