My boys were terrible teethers.
The refused all teething aids like cold compresses, teethers, and perhaps worst of all – me. The boys don’t get all cute and cuddly when they are uncomfortable. They get grouchy and distant.
So far, Beatrice has proved to be on the totally opposite end of the spectrum. She loves to be held. She wants to be comforted. And, yay! She will actually use teethers to help aid her discomfort. Is she just that amazing of a baby? Well, duh. Yes she is. But I’ve also smartened up a lot since we brought our first baby home. Gone are the yucky plastic chew toys that no one seems to like anyways. Enter: wooden teethers. Let me tell you guys, these are a real game changer!
The teethers we like the most come from Mary and Kate, an American company that designs products:
with love for children and deep understanding for the need of safe and non toxic products that will not overload their tiny bodies with harmful chemicals.
We use materials that are not only completely natural and certified organic, but also free of bleaches and toxic dyes.
Our wooden toys are made with natural wood and treated with extra virgin organic olive oil & organic beeswax. (Retrieved from maryandkate.com)
Beatrice tested the all natural American Maple teething rings. I’ll admit, I was a little dubious at first. After all, they are just rings. Nothing fancy, no texture – just rings. But the moment I handed them to Bea she instantly started working them in her hands. At just four months old, she had to first get used to grasping something, adjusting it in her hands, and then getting it to her mouth. But let me tell you, all of this happened in a matter of moments the first time I gave them to her!
She is now five months old and has more control of her hands. I can’t feel any teeth buds coming through yet, but she drools like crazy and loves to chew on these things. I don’t entirely understand what is happening, but the rings make her happy so who am I to question it?
Not only are these rings all natural and untreated with any chemicals, but the rings themselves are so beautiful! They come in a lovely organic bag to store them in as well. Why should you choose wood rings? For starters, wood is a renewable resource. The rings are recyclable and biodegradable. And, did you know that wood is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial? Great for baby, great for the earth. It’s a no brainer!
Do you have a sweet little baby you’d like to get a set of rings for? These would make a wonderful baby shower gift! For the month of May, you can receive 10% off your order from Mary & Kate!
